Presidents' Ball 2025

For this project I was given a collage created by a coworker to start the direction of the promotional design for the GVSU Presidents' Ball 2025.

The Presidents' Ball is a tradition of the university held every year. The theme for this year's event was Disco.

The client wanted a full package that includes; 42X72” banner that hung in our student center, posters to be posted across campus, pluggers to hand out at tabling events, social posts, a web header, and yard signs. Special deliverables for this event included; a marquee sign, photo posters for the music hall venue, and screen slides for the music hall projector.

To create this design, I began with altering the premade collage to include other disco assets such as vinyl records and roller skaters. The client had requested a purple color palette, and I overlaid a gradient map on the modified collage. Experimenting with typography I had created a display typeface using vintage neon signs for inspiration. While the typeface is used throughout the promotional and event signage, the focal point of the event poster is the disco ball with a sparkly boot that is a nod to the current president of the university, President Mantella, as she struts in her one of a kind custom blue sparkly boots.
