Graphic Design Senior Project
Pétalos De Cambio (Petals of Change) was created for my Graphic Design senior thesis exhibition in April 2024.
The original murals of this project are 96”h x 40”w are printed digital images mounted on wood substrate.
Historically, Mexico has deep-rooted social issues that are often exacerbated by entrenched beliefs and societal norms. These create barriers to equality and well-being for marginalized individuals centered around homophobia, gender-based violence, and mental health stigma that perpetuate cycles of discrimination and exclusion.
This project was created for the senior exhibition prompt; You must solve a problem through graphic design.
This prompt while vague, intrigued me as I was molded to problem solve and led me to create a fictional mural collective that's purpose is to educate and start conversations about marginalized issues in Mexico. Through my process I was able to create a thoughtful and respectful display to depict three issues while educating viewers through website design, booklet design, and promotional materials to spread the collective's goals; to harness the power of art and foster a more inclusive society in Mexico.
