Arte Michigano

"Arte Michigano showcases various Latine artists from the West Michigan area. This exhibition takes a non-hierarchical approach in its curatorial effort by including cultural artifacts that may not have been considered art during their inception. Their inclusion speaks to a desire to create a broader sense of art.
The exhibition also seeks to dispel the urban normative idea that culture only exists in metropolitan areas. By creating a hyper-local exhibition, coupled with the geographical location of Holland, Michigan, Arte Michigano becomes a marker of an otherwise underrepresented (or nascent) art community in West Michigan."
