Saudade (Longing)
A deep emotional state of melancholic longing for a person that is absent. These chairs act as a reflection of two important people in my life as well as well as myself in a portrait of our personalities. Chairs are stand-ins for human beings as in this piece are a hope of return of the people they represent.
There is a separation between the individuals' portraits and my own to depict the depth of absence we have in each other's lives. The physical chair is an invitation for a reappearance of the once firm relationship.
