BEL - VEL is a combination of the artist's maternal and paternal last names – Irlanda Beltran Velo.
Irlanda is a multidisciplinary artist from the Metro Detroit area in Michigan. She combines her background in Graphic Design with Visual Studies to attain a double concentration for her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Grand Valley State University.
Inspired by her Mexican heritage, Beltran's vibrant and layered compositions explore themes of culture and advocacy. She draws from her professional experience in Graphic Design, and merges bold colors and dynamic imagery to challenge societal norms and spark meaningful conversations.
